The 10 Things That Are Stopping You From Getting What You Really Want!”

  • Mistake Number 1

Not taking charge of your life and therefore your results in life.

Sometimes we blame our past and the things that have happened around us and to us, for our dissatisfaction with life. Maybe it was our parents that made us go in a downward spiral, or our partners, spouses, colleagues, bosses, or the kids? Once you realise that you can take charge of your own destiny, your own thoughts, your own feelings, life becomes full of choices and freedom, and possibly fun and laughter as well!

Did you know that: Only you put thoughts into your head! You are in charge of yourself, then you have a choice about whether to put negative or positive things into your head.

  • Mistake Number 2

Not knowing where you are going in your life.

How can you take appropriate and focused action if you don’t know where you are heading?

If you take time out to wonder why some people are successful and others aren’t, you’ll notice that those that are successful set goals and know that they are going to achieve them. They don’t believe in failure and just learn from what happens as they head towards what they want in their life. So set some goals and you will find it much easier to know what to do. There are some really effective ways to set goals so that achieving them becomes really compelling. You could take advantage of my offer of a free consultation to find out how. I can help you with my amazing Goal Mapping Technique.

  • Mistake Number 3

Not knowing what’s important to you in your life.

Do you really know what’s important to you? What motivates you? You may think you do, but are you sure? and what do you do about the knowledge?

Our motivation comes from knowing our top values (motivators) are and making sure that we “tick” them. Because they operate at an unconscious level, we only know that sometimes we feel really motivated and sometimes we don’t. Knowing them and using them every day is really important, along with your goals.

  • Mistake Number 4

Not taking consistent and focused actions that will get you your goal and your dreams.

If you stop, and reflect on your actions, maybe you’ll notice that you procrastinate, you put off what you know needs to be done, you make excuses and blame others. Maybe you even do the ironing or the washing up or many of the other things that we tell ourselves are more important – and we know that we are kidding ourselves.

The key is to set goals and make sure that you are doing the things that are important to you, and then taking action and focusing will be much easier. Keeping a journal will help as you can then capture what is happening and do something about it.

  • Mistake Number 5

Thinking that you aren’t good enough or worthy or confident enough to achieve your dreams and goals.

This thought often comes from your past, from events that have happened or people that you have met. Once you realise this and how you have been affected, you can simply decide to move on and think differently. If this doesn’t work, it would be a good idea to get in touch with me as sometimes a bit of “rewiring” is needed in order to know that you are good enough and can make choices and be free. A free consultation with me can start that process.

  • Mistake Number 6

Surrounding yourself with negative people or people that don’t believe in you and your dreams.

Have you ever noticed that some of the people that you come across make you feel “rubbish” or drained? These people may be friends or family or colleagues. Remember “You are the average of the five people you spend most time with”. Jim Rohn

Spend the time with people who are successful and motivated and you will be as well. Spend the time with negative people who drain you and make you feel “rubbish” and you will find it much more difficult to get that success and what you really want. Make a list of those who drain you and find a way of feeling neutral about them. Then find a group of people who will sustain you and help you to get what you want.

  • Mistake Number 7

Thinking that the way that you communicate is the best way to communicate, no matter what results you get.

The meaning of your communication is the result that you get! Did you know that? So, if you get a response from someone or a group that you didn’t want or didn’t expect, it’s good to reflect on how you got that result and what you can do to get a different result. It’s a really interesting subject and if you learn about other people and about how everyone is different, you can use that knowledge to become successful in your communication. And that is key to getting what you want!

  • Mistake Number 8

Getting the balance wrong in your life

What do I mean by that? What is a wrong balance? Maybe you are spending time on areas of your life that are less important to you than others and you wish it was different. A good example of this is when you spend time working when you’d rather be spending more time with your family and friends or keeping healthy or having fun. A Wheel of Life is a good tool to assess this and to plan how to get a good balance for you.  Remember, it’s your balance that you need to look at, not what other people think it should be.

  • Mistake Number 9

Not taking time out to personally develop and reflect.

It’s very easy to be very busy doing what it is that you do. Remember Einstein said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. If you take time out during your day to think about whether you are reaching or moving towards your goals, doing what’s important to you and how you feel, that will give you insights. I can help with this so get in touch for a free consultation.

  • Mistake Number 10

Going through life thinking “this is my lot”, “there’s nothing I can do about it!”

I often wonder how many people living in my local area (or the world) that are unhappy, anxious, angry or feel guilty and just don’t know that there’s anything they can do about it. These are people who live in the past rather than looking forward to the future. It doesn’t have to be like that!

Make sure that you know who you are, what you want and where you are going and then take the action, expecting to find success, get rid of the negative influences around you and be the person you want to be to get what you really want.
